Really Learn To Read! is a series of activity books that are designed to instill a love for reading in individuals of all ages while enhancing comprehension, thereby equipping children, teenagers, and adults with the vital reading skills and self-confidence required for both the present and the future.
For the love of reading.
Using colorful graphics combined with fun activities to build a strong phonics foundation, readers are challenged to make words, read goofy poems and interesting stories, answer questions, and draw pictures that reflect their comprehension. Learners are comfortably engaged as they build their vocabulary bank of word families and sight words, as well as strengthen their understanding of what is being read. Fluency is better ensured with the intentional inclusion of words previously read in the series of books that are grouped in order of complexity and based on the sequence of sounds.
In addition to each workbook, a Teacher Edition is available to evaluate the learner’s work.
Make Words
The readers match and write a variety of beginning sounds (onsets) to common vowel pattern endings (rimes) as they determine if the sounds are words.
Goofy Poems
Readers practice their phonetic word families with new sight words throughout the poems to improve their recognition and rhyming skills.
Story
Stories vary from silly and fun to true real-life facts. The reader becomes even more familiar and more confident with word families and sight words. Vocabulary and comprehension skills become more developed.
Question & Answer
After the poems and story, readers are given a variety of questions including short answer, paragraph, listing, and true or false that reinforce spelling and reflect understanding.
Draw a Picture
Readers have fun as they use the information they read to draw their depiction of an event or description found within each story.
The English language, like all languages, is based on sounds. This series of reading activity books embraces the method of systematic phonics instruction that can be implemented as the core reading curriculum or as an enrichment supplement to any reading program. Learners are first introduced to the short vowels which are the foundation of fluent reading, followed by learning the long vowels through mastery in phonetic skills, vocabulary, and comprehension. This true phonics curriculum is designed to instill a love for reading in individuals of all ages while enhancing comprehension, thereby equipping children, teenagers, and adults with the vital reading skills and self-confidence required for both the present and the future.
